Rubber hits the road with Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund Grant
The recent announcement of a $20,000 grant through the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund will play a major part in the mobilization of Raw Potential Canberra’s outreach services via a custom-built vehicle being commissioned to engage with at-risk young people on the streets.
Raw Potential Canberra Chairman, Paul Kane, said, “The organization is delighted and incredibly appreciative of the support for the grant through Hands Across Canberra. We’re very excited about the introduction of the new mobile services which will add an unprecedented level of support to our outreach workers who are engaging with vulnerable young people on a daily basis.
“The vehicle’s capability will allow our outreach works to deal with urgent issues immediately and be better connected with other providers needed to assist these young people urgently requiring temporary and permanent accommodation, food, medical support and other basic needs.
“We know that demand for support is increasing. This grant through the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund, along with the amazing assistance of our other partners who have made the mobile outreach service vehicle a possibility, will assist our outreach workers who do incredible work with some very vulnerable people who need their help,” added Mr. Kane.
Raw Potential provides support and assistance that is immediate, non-judgmental and personalised, with a focus on providing an opportunity to positively change their lives. These youth are often experiencing homelessness, mental health issues, violence and drug-use and are often extremely isolated and disengaged from the general community.
