Monarch Building Solutions fishing tournament grows into major fundraising initiative

Today, the simple joy of tradies throwing a line in at the annual tournament has evolved into a major fundraising initiative for the Fyshwick business.

Monarch directors handed youth crisis service Raw Potential a cheque for almost $30,000 on Thursday, half of which were proceeds from the latest tournament at Tuross and the rest matched funds donated by Monarch.

Mobile Outreach Van Launched 20th August 2020

Even in spite of the impact of Covid and the expected setbacks, we have had a heroic push-through to launch our new custom built outreach van at Mercedes Benz Canberra. The small covid-safe crowd in attendance did not reflect the level of support given to the project by our sponsors.
The van provides a mobile drop-in centre, with access to the outreach workers, as well as laptops, sleeping bags and food.
We’d like to especially thank:

With homelessness rates increasing nationally, there is a clear need that everyone deserves a safe house. To address this concerns local businesses in Canberra gathered together to support of Raw Potential (formerly known as Youth Care Canberra).

This local charity provides non-judgemental, pro-active outreach services to at risk or homeless youth, aged 12 to 25 years. They have been operating continuously in Canberra for 33 years and estimate that they have helped in excess of 10,000 disadvantaged at risk kids overtime.

Over a long lunch hosted with Doma Hotels, at Hotel Realm, guests were entertained by Reigan Derry Australian singer/ song writer and comedian Corey White. As a survivor of domestic abuse, drug addiction and mental health issues, Corey highlighted the importance of charities like Raw Potential to provide safe environments to the youth of Canberra. “Raw Potential is about changing young lives for the better and stopping the cycle from getting worse,” said Chris White.

1/34 The sell out event raised much needed funds for the charity. Thank you to all the local businesses who have generously supported Raw Potential. If you as an individual or business would like to support this local charity head to their website.
